Buzz Brümp

This past Saturday we played the Tractor Tavern in Ballard in support of Airport Way’s CD Release Party for their album Islaninsula. Sebastian and the Deep Blue kicked off with some high energy for a very sizable opening crowd. This show was the second of two that the Tractor was presenting on the day, the first being an all day event at Hattie’s Hat that featured the Rebirth Brass Band from NOLA and Eldridge Gravy and the Court Supreme, among others.

This show was unique for us for a couple of reasons. Hunter was out of town and unable to make the show, and Matt “Rhino” Harris would be playing his first show with us as an official Buzz Brümp member. He would also be breaking out the Djembe for the first time with us.

Considering Rib covered Hunter’s vocal parts without backing and Soko needed to cover a more rhythmic approach than usual, it was a solid night and total blast through and through. It is actually pretty hilarious to hear Rib sing call and response lyrics to himself, and musically the group as a whole had to sweat just a little harder to fill in some space.

Airport Way closed out the night and kept the crowd asking for more even after a two song encore. These guys just keep geting better and better and it is an honor to co-bill shows with them regularly and witness it firsthand. The album Islaninsula is a solid and infectious piece, and a perfect Summer soundtrack so make sure to pick up a copy today.

Thanks to SaraSoko Photography for the pic! More to come…
